Lying Down After Botox. Is It a Good Idea?

“Is lying down after Botox a good idea?” has been one of the most asked questions our Sisu doctors have been answering in recent months. For the most part, Botox is a pretty standard, quick and easy procedure that ensures your wrinkles and fine lines disappear for a period of 3-months or so, however, there are a few things to note when you are booking in for your Botox appointment at Sisu.

What Should I Avoid After Botox?

Botox injections are the most common procedure at Sisu Clinic since they are incredibly efficient. Botox injections can enable you to look and feel better by reducing the appearance of wrinkles and eliminating deep lines that can develop around your eyes. Don’t forget that we don’t just use Botox to make you look amazing! Botox injections are also a way to treat chronic migraines, overproduction of sweat as well as can help your jaw muscles relax and stop you from grinding/clenching your jaw and damaging your teeth in the process!

Botox is a Botulinum Toxin based FDA-approved drug which paralyses your muscles temporarily and even though it is the most effective anti-aging regimen in the field of aesthetic medicine right now, it also requires you as the patient to be aware of some of the information surrounding the treatment!

Lying Down After Botox: Dos and Don’ts

So you’re interested in getting your Botox treatment at your nearest SISU Aesthetic Clinic and before you book your appointment - you may have some questions. Totally understandable and we are here to help always! Just to make you aware, you can also book a free consultation with our doctors prior to your appointment to have all of your questions answered in person!

So, what is it exactly that you shouldn’t do after getting your Botox appointment?

Let us fill you right in!
  • Lying down right away after your Botox treatment isn’t the best idea. We recommend you wait at least four hours before lying down as Botox takes a couple of hours to settle in place so lying down right away after your appointment may cause it to migrate to other muscles in your face and may alter the effect you wanted!
  • Does that mean you should sleep in a certain position? Not necessarily! As long as you’re going to sleep at least four hours after the treatment, you can get as comfortable as you want!
  • If you do need to lie down, it’s best to lie on your back and to avoid lying on your side or stomach. Laying on your side of the stomach will increase the odds of the Botox moving to another area of your face.
  • What if I laid down after Botox? Don’t worry! There is no evidence to suggest that lying down too soon after a procedure will have any long-term negative impact on the patient. So although it is recommended not to do it, it’s not the end of the world!
